Why go: Each year thousands of visitors flock to downtown Brighton to taste the delicious smoked and barbecue foods of professional vendors and listen to the most prestigious bands from across the country. The 2011 headliners include Thornetta Davis, The Silvertones Reunion, Dave Specter & Jimmy Johnson, and the Glen David Andrews Bands.

Price: Free, with $15 cover to get into beverage garden (21 and older).

Why go: See the moon and stars as you’ve never seen them before. Telescopes will be set up for observation, and several astronomy clubs will present a variety of starry programs.
