1.       Show up to Hartland High School and register with Be the Match.  A simple cheek swab is all you give.

2.       Recruit other people to show up and register.

3.       Donate money to the registry event.

Anyone under 44 years of age is invited to give a spit swab and join the bone marrow registry.  Normally, there is a fee due the expenses involved in DNA analysis. However, for this event, fund raising will cover all costs. It will be FREE for anyone to register.

Many people, including children, are waiting for a bone marrow match to save their lives. While I always had a hazy idea about the benefits of giving bone marrow, I didn’t realize how important it is for people to simply register in the database. After an amazing response from my team mates at Hartland High School, I have decided to include the district and surrounding community as a whole.

A bone marrow transplant can save the lives of people battling leukemia, lymphoma, and other blood cancers.

70% of patients in need of a bone marrow transplant do not have a matching donor in their family.

Leukemia kills more children every year than any other cancer.
