Endings

In the past 10 days or so, I have been asked the question, “…why so many endings now?” It seems there are a good number of ‘endings’ happening right now … at least based on my own life and the lives of the clients and friends that I see and talk with.

So, are there more endings now? Are more people developing terminal illnesses now than before? Are the number of deaths increasing? The answer is ‘yes’ … based on statistical information released by the CDC which looks at the number of deaths per 100,000 people. However, is that what the questions are about? I don’t think so.

Many of us have friends or family members who suffer (or have suffered) from terminal illnesses or have passed away unexpectedly. While these deaths and illnesses may not be in our immediate families, we hear about them, read about them, or find ourselves witnessing them in some way. I can’t pretend to know or understand all of the reasons for this ‘phenomenon’, but I believe each time we ‘hear’ about someone being seriously ill or having passed on … it reminds us of our own mortality. For most of us … when we were young, we never gave it a thought. But as we get older, such things remind us of how fortunate we are to have some semblance of health, and to have been given another day.

Prior to the ending of the Mayan Calendar and the age of Pisces, you would sometimes hear people talking about the changes taking place on a very large, galactic scale … vibrational shifts in the galaxy, polar shifts taking place on and within Mother Earth, the ‘lifting of the veils’ between dimensions, etc. Back in the 1960′s when I was first learning about the Mayan Calendar and the movement from one dimension to another, it was ‘common knowledge’ that there would be people leaving this ‘dimension’ and moving on to the next. Some would leave because it was part of their ‘agreement’ when they incarnated … they were not going to be here for ‘the change’. Some would leave to help those of us still here to move from ‘one dimension’ to the next. And, there would be those who come from other galaxies and other dimensions to help us earthlings get through the vibrational changes taking place on this earth plane at this time.

But are the ‘endings’ of life really because of some agreement made prior to a person’s incarnation … or is it simply that the Baby Boomers are getting older? Its probably a little of both … although the latter is more easily proven and much more acceptable as an answer by the majority.

I like to believe these ‘endings’ are not really endings, but more like beginnings. We read about it and hear about it from well known speakers and writers … that death is really a new beginning … leaving one plane of existence to go to the next. While few, if any of us can say for certain what happens after transition, it is safe to say that it is those of us still here that feel the effects of losing a loved one the hardest. We all have ideas and beliefs of what it would be like to transition … but what we do know for certain is that we will miss the physical presence of the one we have lost, and feel the absence of them in ways too numerous to describe. And while we don’t always understand or accept that someone is leaving us … we do know that it is our own pain and sense of loss that we will need to deal with. The mourning will not be for the one who has departed … but for those of us left behind.
