Joanie Rupersburg Berry recently had a large mass removed from her heart and further complications requiring additional emergency surgery on Dec. 14.

An online campaign to raise money for a Hartland woman who recently had a large mass removed from her heart has raised $1,140 towards their $5,000 goal.

Katie Nolan Carr created the fundraiser on GoFundMe.com on Dec. 15, 2013. The page reads:

"Many have asked how to help our dear friend Joanie Rupersburg Berry who recently had a large mass removed from her heart and further complications requiring additional emergency surgery early Saturday morning. I have set up this page as means for friends out of the area who would like to help support her and her family during this difficult time.

Thank you so much, i think its important to step up and do the thinking and planning when others struggling in life to ease their burden."View the fundraiser online here.

A Facebook page has also been created where community members are able to follow and sign up for meals to be delivered to the family.
