$825 Raised for Single Mom to Attend Cancer Summit

Erin Mead is raising funds for herself and a friend to attend a cancer summit in Las Vegas.

An online campaign was started for a single mother of two battling stage 4 Synovial Sarcoma to help her attend the Stupid Cancer OMG cancer summit for young adults in Las Vegas. Started at the beginning of December, the campaign has already raised $825 towards the $1,500 goal.

Two years ago, Erin Mead was a hardworking, popular preschool teacher at Garden Gate Montessori when she was diagnosed with the rare form of cancer.

Six weeks into her treatments, Mead decided to leave her position to focus on her health and her two children, Nick and Peyton. Mead will begin further cancer treatments starting next month.

On December 4, Mead started a GoFundMe page to help her and a friend attend an annual summit for young adults battling cancer.

The page reads:

"As many of you know, last year I attended the Stupid Cancer OMG cancer summit for young adults in Las Vegas. It was a life changing experience for me. To be in a room with 500 people who understand everything I have gone through since my diagnosis of Synovial Sarcoma was truly amazing. I would like to attend again this year but I need your help.

This year it means so much more to me. I hate the idea of going without my friend Robert. I will be going for him as well. Please consider a donation to help me get there. Thank you!"
