But we need your help. We know those kids are out there doing great things for and in the community, so let us know about them so we can help spread the word.
Today we feature a group of five young Hartland residents who took the time this past summer to come up with a creative way to raise money for the Livingston County Animal Shelter.
- Introduction: Riley Patzer, Breanna Patzer, Ryann Bordeaux, Carter Bordeaux and Maribeth Presley raised $109 by walking their neighbors dogs this summer which was then donated to the local animal shelter.
- Achievement: The group of Hartland kids hand delivered their donation check on Sept. 14 and according to parent Joann Bordeaux, the idea to raise the money came from the children themselves and the five friends organized their efforts on their own.
- Keys to awesomeness: Money raised will go towards the care of the animals as well as needed supplies and equipment, according to Livingston County Animal Shelter Director Debbie Oberle. "I think it's really great that the kids nowadays are actually banding together and trying to do something for the animals that is well thought out," she said.
