Hartland Breaks Ground on 100 Acre Park
Today Hartland Township broke ground on the 100-acre park that will connect M-59, Township Hall and Dunham Road, providing walking trails and a sledding hill for community recreation.
“We envision Settlers Park to become a year-round recreational hub for the community,” says Robert West, director of Public Works. “The walking path will be completed by fall and then we will move on to planning phase II of the development.”
The township is seeking input from area residents on amenities for phase II of the development. Informal town hall-style meetings are scheduled at Kahuna Coffee on June 20 at 9:30 a.m. and June 26 at 6 p.m.

In addition, the fields of the new Hartland Heritage Park will welcome its first group of young athletes with the beginning of HAYAA football season in August. Hartland Heritage Park, located on M-59 west of Pleasant Valley Road, is a collaboration between the township, HAYAA and the Hartland Community Soccer Association. The park features ten sports fields, hosting football, lacrosse and soccer practices and competitions.
Those interested in both parks can get updates by visiting the township’s Facebook page at www.facebook.com/hartlandtownship.
