Summer Taxes -- What You Need To Know

Hartland Township distributed the summer tax bill on July 1.  Here’s what you need to know:

  • The summer tax bill recently mailed is for the July 1, 2013 through June 30, 2014 time period.
  • Summer taxes are due September 16, 2013.  You can either mail in the payment or stop by Township Hall to pay.  First National Bank and Chase Bank, both on M59 in Hartland, also accept payments.
  • If your taxes are paid through your mortgage company, the tax bill is for your information only.   Billing has been sent to your mortgage company and the mortgage company will handle distribution of the funds.
  • If the bill is for your primary residence, it will fund three categories:
  1. Livingston County’s general operating fund
  2. The State Education Tax – these dollars are collected by the Michigan Department of Education and then reallocated to school districts based on a state formula
  3. Livingston Educational Service Agency (LESA)
  • The winter tax bill will be distributed on Dec. 1.
