The River Church Hosts 'Christmas Unwrapped'

Volunteers are need on Nov. 23 for the annual Christmas Unwrapped event.

The River Community Church is connecting with a specific group of families struggling during the Holiday season.

Christmas Unwrapped (formerly the Christmas Store) allows families who are disadvantaged economically to enjoy a Christmas with dignity and to provide gifts for their family.

Lead Pastor Terry Prisk shared, ”We are reaching out to assist low income families, seniors raising grandchildren, and to “shut-ins” who are unable to provide for themselves. This is a tangible way of giving back locally and putting our faith in action.”

The River encourages everyone to “grab a tag” describing the kinds of gifts and the people in need (anyone from infant to teenager) from our Christmas trees in the church lobby. Then, we go shopping! This way we can make sure that every child has presents to open on Christmas morning.

The Christmas Unwrapped event will occur on Saturday, Nov. 23 at the Hartland Performing Arts Center from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m.

The event includes a faith-filled message, photos with Santa, a holiday family meal, kids craft area, "Elf" book corner. Families have a choice of three brand new toys in the store and we even have volunteers gift wrap them.

Children have a great time shopping in the Santa shop for their grandparents and parents while their parents are shopping for them.
