Kids Give Reminder About Sunday Christmas Pageant, Dance and Say 'Good Morning, Hartland!'

It's Thursday and more unDecember weather is going on (Better than snow and ice, I'd say). Here are some tidbits of news and information that we hope you'll find useful or entertaining.

1. The weather

Drizzle before 7 a.m., then expect showers betwenn 7 a.m. and noon as temps fall from the 50s during the day to around 42, according to the National Weather Service.   • : $3.32
  • Mobil: $3.42 (cash is 10 cents lower)
  • Lowest price at Hickory Ridge and M-59 in Highland: $3.25 at Citgo.
  • Lowest price in the Fenton area: $3.18 at the BP station on Owen Road at U.S. 23.
  • Lowest price in the Brighton area: $3.13 at Costco at 6700 Whitmore Lake Rd.

3. Sheriff reports increase in anonymous tips

Tips to the Crime Stoppers from Livingston County have increased 43 percent from November 2010, leading to the arrest and conviction of 19 people and $3,750 paid to callers, according to a WHMI-FM (93.5) report.

Sheriff Bob Bezotte told the station that the tips help because budget cuts have resulted in fewer deputies on the road in the area. The tip line is 1-800-SPEAK-UP.

4. Hartland native involved in proposed baseball training facility

Hartland native and baseball coach Rob Morris would be involved in baseball training facility proposed in Genoa Township by SWAT Elite Sports, according to an article in the Livingston County Daily Press & Argus.

The Genoa Township Planning Commission considered approving plans Monday, the article said. The facility would replace a former sporting goods store at 3600 E Grand River Ave and backers hope to open by Feb. 1.

Morris, who played college baseball, had the idea to bring the facility to Livingston County, the article said.
