Ah, the week of Thanksgiving — Busy, Busy, Busy. Here are some tidbits of news and information that we hope you'll find useful or entertaining.

1. The weather

Clouds are expected to give way to sun during the day with a high near 44 degrees with light east winds, according to the National Weather Service. Tonight, temperatures will drop to about 31.

2. Fuel prices

Here's a quick daily survey of the regular per-gallon price, according to gasbuddy.com —

  • : $3.29
  • Mobil: $3.39 (cash is 10 cents lower)
  • Shell: $3.49
  • Lowest price at Hickory Ridge and M-59 in Highland: $3.19 at Citgo.
  • Lowest price in the Fenton area: $3.09 at seven stations including three on Owen at U.S. 23.
  • Lowest price in the Brighton area: $3.21 at Costco, 6700 Whitmore Lake Rd, and Citgo at Grand River and O'Doherty.

3. Letter of Hartland resident published in countywide newspaper

Jan Vogel of Hartland argues that state lawmakers should not take steps to stop voters from putting laws they pass on the ballot, according to a letter published in the Livingston County Daily Press & Argus.

"People, wake up," she writes. "There are some pretty important decisions being made in Lansing these days and you may find you don't agree with all of them."

4. Tyrone Township man faces possible charges in domestic violence case

A 45-year-old Tyrone Township man has been arrested on the suspicion of several charges including domestic violence, felonious assault and felony firearm after police say he attacked his 26-year-old girlfriend, according to WHMI radio.

The incident happened at about 10:30 p.m. Wednesday at the couple's Hidden Hollow home, the station reported. Deputies say also the man threatened the woman with a muzzleloader and fired the weapon, although police say it's unclear whether the gun had a bullet.

5. Hartland Trivia

Congrats to Tammy Chinn for getting correct — Lee McCartney did what in Hartland for 46 years, retiring in 1967? Answer: He was a bus driver for the Hartland School District.
