First Grade Class Gives Holiday Wishes and Says 'Good Morning, Hartland!'

It's Friday and Christmas is Sunday. Here are some tidbits of news and information that we hope you'll find useful or entertaining.

1. The weather

Look for partly sunny skies with a high near 31 degrees, according to the National Weather Service. Light winds of 6 and 9 miles per hour. Friday night expect a chance of flurries and a steady temperature of around 28.

Christmas Eve: During the day, there will be more sun with a high near 37. Winds should blow out of the west southwest between 7 and 9 mph. At night, it should be partly cloudy with a low around 27.

Christmas Day: We might see snow (a 40 percent chance) otherwise it'll be partly sunny with temps around 38. That night, expect partly cloudy skies with a low around 26.

3. Hartland intersection project OKd with budget

A project to improve the intersection of Fenton and Dunham roads was approved Tuesday by the Livingston County Road Commission, according to a Livingston County Daily Press & Argus story.

The project was part of $2.3 million in winter maintenance spending. and $1.7 million.

4. Hartland middle school students particpate in 'Salmon in the Classroom' program

students are raising salmon as part of a hands-on program over the next several months, according to a post on the Michigan Department of Natural Resources website.

Right now, students are caring for eggs, which are expected to hatch in January. Ultimately, the goal is to release the fish into an area river.

"Together, we'll be learning about life cycles, ecology, environmental conditions, and invasive species and we'll gain a deep understanding of the Chinook salmon," said teacher Rob Jellison, who is overseeing Hartland's program.

5. Hartland trivia

Congrats to rose clark who correctly answered — George Cornell and Eliza Williams and Albert White and Nancy Bidelman were listed as the first to do what in Hartland Township in 1836? Answer: First of the pioneers to be married.
