It's Wednesday. Here are five tidbits of news and information that we hope you'll find useful or entertaining.

1. The weather

Yep, rain, according to the National Weather Service (100 percent chance). It'll be breezy, too, with a south wind of 11 to 14 miles per hour that is expected to increase to between 20-23 mph and gusts as high as 31 mph. Showers are likely tonight, too, under cloudy skies and a low of around 36. Rain chance is 60 percent.

2. Fuel prices

Here's a quick daily survey of the regular per-gallon price, according to gasbuddy.com —

  • : $3.55
  • Shell: $3.59
  • Mobil: $3.65 (cash is 10 cents lower)
  • Lowest price at Hickory Ridge and M-59 in Highland: $3.45 at Citgo.
  • Lowest price in the Fenton area: $3.39 at the Clark station at N. LeRoy and Third and at the Marathon station at Silver Lake and Lincoln.
  • Lowest price in the Brighton area: $3.34 at Costco, 6700 Whitmore Lake Rd.

3. Reminder — national alert test is today

4. Republican debate watching party in Howell

Want to watch Wednesday's Republican presidential candidate debate with others? The GOP has organized viewing parties statewide. In Livingston County, there's a debate watching event from 8-10 p.m. at 428 West St in Howell.
