Optimist Club Members Discuss Ways to Aid Needy Families and Say 'Good Morning, Hartland!'

It's Tuesday. Here are some tidbits of news and information that we hope you'll find useful or entertaining.

1. The weather

Watch out for patchy fog before 8 a.m. but after that expect sunny skies and a high near 59, according to the National Weather Service. A west wind will be between 5 and 15 mph with gusts as high as 23 mph. Tonight will be party cloudy with a low around 34.

Here's a quick daily survey of the regular per-gallon price, according to gasbuddy.com —

  • : $3.39
  • Shell: $3.59
  • Mobil: $3.59 (cash is 10 cents lower)
  • Lowest price at Hickory Ridge and M-59 in Highland: $3.37 at Citgo.
  • Lowest price in the Fenton area: $3.15 at the BP at Owen and U.S. 23.
  • Lowest price in the Brighton area: $3.37 at Costco, 6700 Whitmore Lake Rd.

3. Township board to focus on fluoride, athletic fields and economic development

Fluoride treatment, athletic fields and economic development highlight the agenda for Hartland Township Board of Trustees 7 p.m. meeting Tuesday at Township Hall, 2655 Clark Rd.

A public hearing will be held on whether the township should continue to add fluoride to the water system after Trustee Glenn Harper raised health concerns about the addative.

In addition, the board is considering approval of a site plan for new athletic fields and a gravel road for the Hartland School District on Clyde Road between Parshallville and Musson roads.

The trustees also will consider whether to participate in a Livingston County plan to have Ann Arbor SPARK coordinate regional economic development. The township would pay $12,000 a year under the three-year proposal.

4. Hartland resident's letter published in newspaper

Hartland resident Kathleen Coll criticizes area lawmakers — state Sen. Joe Hune and state Rep. Cindy Denby — over actions preventing any voter-led referendum on a state auto insurance reform proposal, in a letter published in the Livingston County Press & Argus.

5. Hartland Trivia
