TGIF. It's Friday and here are some tidbits of news and information that we hope you'll find useful or entertaining.

1. The weather

Unseasonably warm temperatures with a high near 48 under partly sunny skies, according to the National Weather Service. Breezy, too, with a west southwest wind between 15 and 17 miles per hour and gusts as high as 25 mph. Tonight, temps fall back to about 30 degrees as winds diminish to between 11 and 13 mph.

On Saturday, look for mostly sunny skies with a high near 39 with winds between 11 and 16 mph and gusts as high as 24 mph. On Saturday night, temps are expected to fall to about 25 with a west northwest wind around 7 mph.

On Sunday, more sunny weather with a high near 35 and a west wind between 6 and 8 mph. Sunday night temps will fall to about 26.

  • Lowest price at Hickory Ridge and M-59 in Highland: $3.49 at Citgo.
  • Lowest price in the Fenton area: $3.44 at four stations: the Clark at N LeRoy and Third, the Marathon at N LeRoy and Glenwood, the Marathon at Silver Lake and Lincoln and the Mobil at N LeRoy and S Long Lake.
  • Lowest price in the Brighton area: $3.34 at Costco at 6700 Whitmore Lake Rd.

3. Students of the month named

Eighth-grader Megan Joseph and seventh-grader Allison Pouliot are students of the month for December at , according to the January edition of Community Life.

4. Hartland High School boys basketball plays home opener tonight

The Hartland High School boys basketball team plays 7 p.m. Friday in its home opener against Howell at .

So far the team has struggled to an 0-4 start, according to the Kensington Lakes Activities Association website.
