(WITH POLL) Good Morning Hartland — The Highlights Edition

Check out the weather, fuel prices and more for Jan. 3, 2012.

It's Tuesday and as many of us settle in for the first day of work in 2012, I thought it would be fun to remember some of the best "Good Morning Hartland" videos from 2011. And, as usual, you'll also find some tidbits of news and information that we hope you find useful.

1. The weather

Scattered snow ends before 7 a.m., then flurries until partly sunny skies emerge with a high of only 21 degrees, according to the National Weather Service. Wind chill values dip to as low as -2 (Brrrrrrrr) as a northwest wind blows between 10 and 17 miles per hour with gusts as high as 24 mph. Chance of precipitation is 40 percent. Tonight, it'll be mostly cloudy with a low of about 18 and winds still 5 to 10 mph and gusts as high as 20.

2. Fuel prices

Here's a quick daily survey of the regular per-gallon price, according to gasbuddy.com —

  • : $3.49
  • Shell: $3.56
  • Mobil: $3.69 (cash is 10 cents lower)
  • Lowest price at Hickory Ridge and M-59 in Highland: $3.32 at Citgo.
  • Lowest price in the Fenton area: $3.29 at the Marathon station at Silver Lake and Lincoln and the Marathon at N LeRoy and Glenwood.
  • Lowest price in the Brighton area: $3.34 at Costco at 6700 Whitmore Lake Rd.

3. Hartland man faces animal cruelty trial

An 80-year-old Hartland man who is accused of throwing three kittens and an adult cat out of his car faces a trial on animal cruelty charges after a judge recently ruled the case could go forward, according to an article in the Livingston County Daily Press & Argus.

A witness testified she saw the man "throw something out his car window as he traveled on M-59," the article says.

The man denies the charges.

4. Photographer to share photos of Lake Superior circle tour

Professional photographer Bruce Montagne during a 7:15 p.m. Tuesday presentation hosted by the Hartland Audubon Nature Club.
