HARTLAND HIGH ARCHERS HIT THEIR MARK!

Hartland Archers Hit Their Mark Yet Again!!!

The Hartland High, Middle and Elementary School Archery Teams competed at the National Archery in the Schools Program’s (NASP) National Tournament this past weekend in Louisville, KY after qualifying for Nationals by winning all three State Championships earlier this year at CMU.

At this event Hartland High has never reached the podium (Top 3), yet after reaching last year’s goal of a Top 5 finish (we came in 4th last year), we set our sights on a podium finish this year.  There were nearly 11,000 archers at this year’s event, making it the largest archery event in world history (setting a new World Record with the Guinness Book of World Records.

It is with great pleasure that I announce Hartland High School as the 3rd Place Archery Team in the Nation!!  We reached our goal again this year and stepped up on the podium for the first time on the National Stage!  The archers gave us everything they had and shot 7 points higher than their State Score with a 3427 out of 3600!  This is our teams highest tournament score ever!  Second place finished with a score of 3428 (only one point from second) and first place posted a score of 3442 (only 15 points from first!).

Out of the 3,150 HS archers at Nationals Hartland High had seven archers in the Top 100, three in the Top 25, and one in the Top 10!  Chris Bee finished in 5th place!!  He also was one of the Top 16 archers who will make up the 2014 USA All-Star Team, and this team will compete in the 2014 World All-Star Competition this July.  The USA All-Star team will be coached by Coach Rob Jellison from Hartland Schools.

The Hartland Middle School Team competed against 4,501 archers.  Hartland Middle School finished in 11th place tying their best National finish ever and shooting a 3317, which is their best tournament score ever!  They had four in the Top 100 and 2 in the Top 25!  Colin Pajot led the way with an 18th place finish out of 2,477 MS male archers!

Hartland Elementary was made up of all brand new archers this year!  The team was made up of nineteen 4th and 5th graders who had never shot on our team until this year and they went down to compete against 2,792 archers.  The elementary tem finished in 16th place (Hartland best elementary finish ever!) and has three in the Top 100 and one in the Top 10!  Ella Gardner finished in 9th Place out of 1,219 ES female archers!

There was a new event this year at Nationals as well 3D IBO!!  This is where the archer’s targets are in the shape of game species that may be hunted.  There were five targets (turkey, bear, deer, antelope, and stone sheep) and the archers had to use their NASP equipment – so bare bow, no sights, and fingers.  198 teams tried this new event and Hartland sent three teams to compete in their divisions.  Hartland High finished in 5th Place, Hartland Middle School finished in 8th Place, and Hartland Elementary finished in 3rd Place.

Congratulations to all of the Archers from the State Season and National Season, along with all of the Coaches and Parents!  The Program would not be what it is today without all of YOU!

Nice Job Hartland Archers!
