Brighton Woman Dies After Suspected Heroin Use

Police say a 28-year-old woman was found unresponsive by paramedics and was pronounced dead at the scene.

A Brighton woman's death is suspected of being related to heroin use, according to a report from the Michigan State Police Brighton Post.

Police say on July 4, Livingston County EMS and Brighton Fire Department responded to call on the 7700 block of Mcclements Rd. around 5:30 p.m. where they a 28-year-old woman unresponsive.

Paramedics were unable to revive her and she was pronounced dead at the scene and suspect drug use to be a significant factor in her death, according to the report.

After an investigation, police learned that the woman had made a heroin purchase from a Detroit address earlier that day and were able to search the residence where they found several packages of heroin and a shotgun.

A 30-year-old male was taken into custody, according to the report, for a weapons violation and controlled substance violations. 

Police say an autopsy will be performed to learn exact cause of death.
