Burglary Suspect Arrested, Stolen Items and Heroin Found

Michigan State Police arrest a burglary suspect after a traffic stop on Thursday.

On Aug. 29, Michigan State Police responded to a reported burglary on the 200 block of Norlynn Drive in Oceola Township at approximately 9 p.m., according to a press release.

Police say that a female who lived in the home had returned home to shower while her family was camping at a nearby campground, when she discovered an intruder. The female recognized the suspect as a boyfriend of a family friend and locked herself in the bathroom and called her father, according to the report.

Police say that the suspect had already left the home by the time the father arrived but several items of jewelry were reported missing as well as items taken from a hidden safe, which was found open.

On Aug. 30, the family called the police at approximately 11:30 p.m. after seeing the suspect drive past their home, according to the report. Police say they located and conducted a traffic stop on the suspect vehicle on Grand River near Hacker Rd. in Brighton Township.

Police say the suspect was driving the car and was taken into custody on suspicion of burglary. After conducting a search of the car, several of the stolen items were found along with three suspected doses of heroin, according to the report.

The suspect is being lodged in the Livingston County jail pending review of the charges.
