Couple Suspected of Donation Jar Theft Taken Into Custody

The Livingston County Sheriff's Department confirms they have taken two suspects into custody who they believe are involved in the theft of a donation jar from a 7-Eleven in Howell.

According to a press release from the sheriff's department, a male and female suspect were identified through information obtained from civilian sources and both suspects were positively identified. 

After responding to the suspect's Howell residence, police say the 34-year-old male suspect was found hiding in a small crawl space under the floor in a laundry room of the home.

After being located, police say the male suspect was turned over to investigators from the Michigan Department of Corrections. The 28-year-old female suspect was identified as the wife of the male suspect and was also arrested and lodged in the Livingston County Jail without incident. 

Police say a child that was present during the theft was released to a family member.

According to the press release, Sheriff Bob Bezotte thanked the public "for their involvement in bringing this incident to a successful close."
