Donations Stolen from Local Veterinary Hospital, Sprinkler Lines Cut at Howell Businesses

On Dec. 28, Countryside Veterinary Hospital in Howell reported a break in, according to a report from the Livingston County Sheriff’s Department.

Police say they responded to an alarm from the building just before 9 p.m. and noticed that a rear door to the building had been pried open.

Possible footprints made by the suspects were found in the snow, according to the report, which also led to a nearby dentist and a chiropractic office.

Items reported stolen from the veterinary hospital included $100 from the cash register drawer and a donation tub filled with an unknown amount of money.

Employees of the Kohl’s in Howell contacted police after hearing a suspicious sawing noise outside the store on Dec. 24, according to a report from the Livingston County Sheriff’s Department.

Police say that after going outside to inspect the noise, the employees noticed that a pipe from the building had been cut off and located a broken hacksaw nearby.

According to the report, the copper valve and line for the buildings sprinklers had been cut off and after further investigation, police say that the nearby building housing the Biggby Coffee also had a valve cut from their building as well.

Police say a suspect was seen walking away from the building but was too far away for an accurate description.
