Hartland Teen Arrested for Joyride Enters Plea

According to reports, the 14-year-old from Hartland entered a plea to Minor Operating a Motor Vehicle with Bodily Alcohol Content with an Occupant Less than 16 and Joyriding.

The teen arrested following a police chase in June appeared in court last week and entered a plea to Minor Operating a Motor Vehicle with Bodily Alcohol Content with an Occupant Less than 16 and Joyriding, according to WHMI.

An article on the WHMI site states that the 14-year-old was charged with five counts, including fleeing and eluding police. He will appear in juvenile court again August 15 for a disposition.

The 13-year-old passenger will appear in juvenile court on July 23 for a pre-trial hearing on charges of unlawful driving away of a vehicle and two counts of resisting and obstructing police, the article states.

Both teens were involved in a police chase in June. With speeds reaching over 100 miles per hour, the chase traveled from south on Oak Grove Road, west on M-59, and east on I-96, continuing east on Grand River Avenue into South Lyon Township.  The chase ended on Lyon Parkway when the driver lost control of the vehicle and crashed into a group of small trees.

The 14-year-old Hartland driver, and 13-year-old passenger, attempted to run away but were stopped by police.

The three 14 and 15-year-old female passengers from Fenton were turned over to their parents following the accident.
