A 24-year old Clarkston man was arrested in the parking lot of the Hartland Kroger on Monday after passing out at the wheel and crashing into a fire hydrant.
After arriving on scene and checking the driver for injuries, Michigan State Troopers from the Brighton Post say the driver told officers he had passed out after inhaling an air duster product.
According to a press release, police say the driver appeared to be intoxicated and was given several sobriety tests, including a one-leg stand, walk and turn and Horizontal Gaze Nystagmus.
Police say the driver failed all the tests and was placed under arrest for operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of narcotics.
Troopers then located about 18 cans of compressed gas duster, opened and unopened alcohol containers and intoxicants, multiple over-the-counter narcotics and suspected illegal narcotics, according to the press release.
The driver was held at the Livingston County Jail pending arraignment.
