Man Runs Car Off Road, Breaks Into Truck at Nearby Business to Tow it Out

After driving his car off the road, a man is suspected of using a random truck without permission to pull his car out, according to a report from the Livingston County Sheriff’s Department.

Police say on Nov. 11, the owner of the misplaced truck contacted police after finding his vehicle had been moved and was unable to locate the keys inside.

According to the report, the suspect had approached several employees at the Green Up Landscaping around 4 p.m. after he had run his vehicle off the road near the 5000 block of Grand River Ave. and had gotten stuck. The employees had refused to help the suspect, however, and told police they believed the man had been intoxicated.

Police say the suspect had then gone next door to Concrete Construction where he had located an unlocked Chevrolet Silverado truck with the keys inside.

The suspect then used the truck to pull his own vehicle out of where it had gotten stuck and then, according to the report, parked the truck and drove away in his own vehicle.

Police say no one on the scene had asked for identification or was able to get the suspect’s license plate number.
