Minors Attempt to Steal Liquor from Hartland Meijer

Two Howell boys, ages 12 and 13, attempted to steal alcohol from the Hartland Meijer with the intent sell the liquor to teenagers, according to a police report from the Livingston County Sheriff’s Department.

Police say on March 26, the two juveniles took two bottles of Sky Vodka into the store bathroom along with a stolen set of Gerber knives to remove the security tags. The liquor was placed into backpacks and the two suspects attempted to leave the store without paying, according to the report.

The 12-year-old suspect told police that the 13-year-old suspect said they could make $20 each for stealing the liquor for high school students.

The two minors were released to their parents and the case is under review in the Livingston County Prosecutor’s Office.
