Overturned Semi Causing Traffic Backups on Southbound US-23

Southbound US-23 is down to one lane until at least 7 p.m. Monday.

Beginning around 5:30 p.m., southbound U.S. 23 will be closed as clean up crews attempt to upright the 52-foot tipped-over trailer, according to Sgt. Mark Thompson with the Michigan State Police.

Police estimate that the southbound lane will re-open at 7 p.m.

A semi truck overturned while traveling southbound on US-23 at the I-96 eastbound ramp Monday at 2:40 p.m.

According to Sgt. Mark Thompson with the Michigan State Police, the driver of the semi received injuries and was transported to a nearby hospital by EMS.

Southbound US-23 is down to one lane.

Thompson said crews are on the scene now attempted to right the semi truck and clean up the roadway. US-23 is not expected to be fully opened for at least two to three hours.
