Police Briefs: Target Employee Accused of Skimming from the Register

Howell woman would pocket money but either ring up a pop or void the transaction, according to police.

An employee working at the Hartland Target's food court could face embezzlement charges after police said she would steal money as customers paid at the register, according to the Livingston County Sheriff's Department.

Police said the Howell resident would either ring up a pop at the register and take the extra money or void the transaction and keep the money. The Howell woman, who was arrested March 14 and released pending action by the Livingston County prosecutor, told police she started stealing in either late December or early January to help pay bills for her family.

Police reported she took $338, listing multiple incidents between March 7 to March 14 that included $21 in cash at the time of her arrest.
