Police Briefs: Woman Admits Stealing from Target and Walmart

The following arrest information was supplied by the Livingston County Sheriff's Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

A 21-year-old Flint woman who was arrested Sunday on the suspicion of retail fraud told police she's stolen more than $2,000 in merchandise from big box stores in Hartland, according to the Livingston County Sheriff's Department.

The woman said she stole from the and stores after police stopped her vehicle at about 4:15 p.m. in Tyrone Township on northbound U.S. 23 north of Center Road, a police report said. Police made the stop in response to a report of shoplifting at Target only minutes earlier, acting on a vehicle description, the report said.

Police found a Nintendo DS game unit and eight games worth about $250 that had been taken, the report said. The woman also told police she stole five other games at Target on Saturday. The report does not detail when the Walmart thefts occurred.

The woman was taken the Livingston County Jail and the case was forwarded to the Livingston County Prosecutor's Office for review.

A 22-year-old man who was a passenger in the vehicle also was arrested for outstanding warrants from 67th District Court in Genesee County and transferred the custody of Fenton Police.

Police arrest Ypsilanti man suspected in Meijer shoplifting case

A 21-year-old Ypsilanti man was arrested in Canton on Thursday on the suspicision of stealing several video games worth $350 three weeks before at the in Hartland  — one of two men suspected in the case, according to the Livingston County Sheriff's Department.

Police made the arrest in the College Park Estates mobile home park after locating the suspect's car and matching his description with evidence gathered from an investigation of the May 26 theft, a report said.

While traveling to the Livingston County Jail, the man said he only took one game because he needed the money, the report said.

The report said police were seeking a warrant for the second man, a 23-year-old, who also went to the store with the suspect and whom Meijer security says also stole games.

Buglary reported at Deerfield Township home

The wife of a couple who are moving to Hartland reported to police Sunday that items worth more than $1,700 were stolen from their former home and pole barn in Deerfield Township sometime over the weekend.

The 31-year-old woman said eight patio chairs, a drop saw and two 12-inch speakers were stolen from the property in the 11300 block of White Road sometime between 5 p.m. Friday and 11:30 a.m. Sunday, according to a Livingston County Sheriff's Department report.

Purse reported stolen from vehicle during a dance recital

A 42-year-old Fenton Township woman told police her purse was stolen from her vehicle while she attended a dance recital Friday at the , according to the Livingston County Sheriff's Department.

The woman told police she parked in the western lot, placed the purse underneath the center console and locked her door, but she found the passenger window smashed and the purse gone when she returned at about 11 p.m.

About 12 credit cards and $150 were in the purse, she told police. The purse was valued at $50, a report said.

Hartland Man Reports Break-In in Brighton Township

A 21-year-old Hartland man reported to police that his part-time residence in Brighton Township was burglarized and that more than $3,000 in items were stolen, according to the Livingston County Sheriff's Department.

The man, who has a space above the garage of a home in the 9900 block of Applegate Lane, said the incident occurred sometime between June 9 and June 11, a police report said. A man who lives at the home was away at the time, the report said.

Items reported stolen included a $1,500 laptop, $1,200 television, $400 Xbox and three Xbox games worth $160.
