Police: Father Allegedly Been Planning Kidnapping of Son for Several Months

A warrant has been issued for Hartland resident Joseph Grabowski for parental kidnapping.

A Hartland dad is suspected of illegally taking his son across state lines, according to Livingston County sheriff Bob Bezotte.

A parental kidnapping warrant has been issued for Hartland resident Joseph Grabowski who failed to return his 11-year-old son, Connor, to his mother in Casco Township on Friday night.

“We think he’s been planning this for some time,” Bezotte said.

Besides his Hartland residence, Grabowski also has homes in Arcadia and Montana, according to Bezotte. The home in Arcadia is currently for sale.

“We’ve been assisted by the state police and the authorities out in Montana who have been checking the house,” Bezotte said. “But obviously we haven’t been able to locate him.”

Police have not been able to verify if the Montana residence is also for sale, but they do believe that Grabowski has been trying to accumulate a large sum of money “for awhile.”

“We believe he’s out of state right now,” Bezotte said. “We’re working with the FBI to try and verify and find out where he’s at.”

Family members of Grabowski, including a brother, have been contacted but told police they have not heard from him.

Anyone with information is asked to call Detective Jim McGinty of the Livingston County Sheriff's Department at 517-540-7999.
