Real Estate Employee Interrupts Robbery in Progress at Hartland Home

While inspecting an unoccupied Hartland home, a real estate employee interrupted a suspected robbery in progress.

The incident took place on Sept. 19 on the 10600 block of Oak Hill Road, according to a report from the Michigan State Police- Brighton Post, when the real estate employee had exited the home briefly to call their supervisor regarding damaged plumbing.

After returning inside, police say the real estate employee heard footsteps, left through the home's side door and saw a male running out the front door.

After calling 911, the real estate employee followed the suspect into a swamp area near the home and police say was then able to tell responding officers where the suspect was attempting to hide.

According to the report, the suspect is a 44-year-old male from Howell who was arrested for home invasion and lodged at the Livingston County Jail pending arraignment.
