State Police Save a Man Who Left Engine Running in a Garage

A relative called 911, worried that the homeowner might harm himself.

Two state troopers revived an unconscious 53-year-old man who had locked himself in the garage, with an engine running, Friday at a Brighton Township home.

Troopers Chris Grace and Rene Gonzalez of the Brighton state police post were dispatched at about 11:15 a.m. to the home in the 13000 block of White Tail Run after a relative of the homeowner called 911 and expressed concern that he might harm himself. The troopers kicked in a side door to gain entry, dragged the homeowner out of the garage and provided him an airway, a police report said. He then regained consciousness.

Livingston County EMS and the Brighton Area Fire Department provided additional first aid. The man was transported to an area hospital for treatment.
