Suspect Arrested in Gun Range Shooting Death

A 19-year-old suspect has been charged with open murder in the shooting death of Charles Robert Kimball.

A 19-year-old man from Howell has been arrested in connection with the shooting death of 20-year-old Charles Robert Kimball, according to a press release from the Livingston County Sheriff’s Department.

The incident took place last June at the Livingston Conservation and Sports Association in Brighton. Kimball and the 19-year-old suspect should not have been on the premises that day, according to Sheriff Bob Bezotte.

When police arrived on scene, they found Kimball had been shot with an AK-47 and was pronounced dead at the scene.

According to the press release, after a police investigation, which included the assistance of the Michigan State Police Crime Lab Firearms Division, the 19-year-old suspect was charged with open murder on Monday.

The name of the suspect is being withheld pending arraignment.
