Trenton Business Owner Attacked in Attempted Armed Robbery (VIDEO)

The following information was supplied by the Trenton Police Department. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

Trenton police are looking for a man who attacked the owner of Ron’s Par-T-Pak at about 10:50 p.m. Sunday, while attempting to rob the store and armed with a knife.

Police said a masked man entered the store, jumped over the counter and began wrestling with the 55-year-old owner. After a short time, the masked man let go of the owner who then pulled out a hand gun and pointed it at the masked man.

Both men repeated, "I don't want to hurt you" during the scuffle, according to a Trenton police report.

The masked man ran out of the store and traveled south on Fort Street.

Police said they are looking for a white man who was last seen wearing a black ski mask and appeared to be wearing jeans and brown or tan boots.

The owner told police he received minor injuries including a scrape on his right forearm. He did not seek medical attention.

Having been a police officer, all I can say is the delay between when the robber pulled the knife and the store owner pulling his pistol could have been deadly for the store owner. You can't do like you see on TV. If there is room between you and the knife holder, you point your weapon at him and order him to drop the knife. If he doesn't and comes at you, you shoot him! PERIOD!!! If he doesn't drop it but doesn't advance, you go for a phone and call 911, keeping him at bay, but you don't shoot him! If you see someone with a gun, give them everything they want, and do nothing unless you realy feel your life is indeed in danger. That's what you have insurance for to pay for your losses. If you happen to see a robber enter the store and has a gun already displayed, duck for cover, pull your weapon, and yell out that you are armed as well. If they continue to advance, and you have a clear shot, JUST SHOOT, DON'T TALK! Sadly, it sounds like this store owner needs to find a better firearms instructor than the one who trained him.

I totally agree with William Riley, If dude came in my store with the intent of robbing me, as soon as he showed agression and the weapon was produced, mr. badguy would have been coldcuts lying on the floor bleeding. Because Dr. Dave would have prescribed him a LEAD SUPPLEMENT for his Diet. A single dosage of 9mm Parabellum, or maybe a double dose as needed. Stand up for your second amendment rights, and protect yourself..... God Bless America. & Take Care Ron, were prayin' for ya. Bear
