Two-Car Collision Shuts Down Old US-23 in Hartland

There were no serious injuries; one patient was transported to hospital after air bag deployment.

A two-car collision occurred on the corner of M-59 and old US- 23 in Hartland this morning around 10 a.m. shutting down a part of old US-23 for approximately 24 minutes, according to Fire Chief Mike Bernardin.

There were no serious injuries, according to Bernardin, but one patient was transported to the University of Michigan hospital as a precaution. 

“Any time there is an airbag deployment, they usually do it for precautionary purposes,” Bernardin said.

It was a side impact or T-bone collision, according to Bernardin. 

“It appears that one vehicle may have pulled out in front of another,” he said.

The Hartland Fire Department was on scene directing traffic, helping to remove one patient from the vehicle and cleaning up fluids and debris caused by the accident.
