Hartland Township to Break Ground on New Community Park

Hartland's new community park, Settlers Park, will include trails and a sledding hill.

Hartland residents will soon have a new place in town to get out and enjoy the outdoors with the addition of a new community park.

Hartland Township will break ground on the new Settlers Park, as it will be named, next week and will include a 10-foot wide, asphalt trail for walking, running or biking.

“The big loop, per say, extends from the north end of the Meijer property all the way up to Dunham Road and that would take you about four-fifths of a mile to get up there,” Hartland Township Manager James Wickman said.

There will also a smaller, shorter path, according to Wickman, that will be off the parking lot.

Once phase one of the project is completed, by early Fall, according to Wickman, the new park will also include a sledding hill for wintertime activities.

As the park progresses in phase two, the township will be asking the community for ideas and input regarding future plans or additions and will have organizational meetings for residents to attend.

“People will be able to check out our Facebook page where we’ll keep the progress going and also announce the meetings there, too,” Director of Communications Colleen Rosso said.
