MDOT: Southbound U.S. 23 Single-Lane Closures Set for Tuesday, Wednesday

Split-merge traffic area expected to start after 8 p.m.

Two single-lane closures on southbound U.S. 23 and when a new lane-shift configuration in a construction area on the highway south of Brighton would start was announced by MDOT Tuesday.

A single-lane closure was set to be in place under the Spencer Road bridge Tuesday until at around 2 p.m., according to an email from MDOT.

The new lane shift — called a split merge traffic configuration — is expected to be in place after 8 p.m. just south of Silver Lake Road, to just north of the Huron River bridge, the email said.

The traffic control device allows for two lanes of traffic in each direction during work on the northbound Huron River bridge.

A single-lane closure on southbound U.S. 23 at Lee Road also is scheduled from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday to allow crews to pave a median shoulder.
