UPDATED: New Lane Closures to Begin Wednesday

U.S. 23 and Spencer Road work among latest projects, MDOT announced.

New lane closures on U.S. 23 south of I-96 and on Spencer Road will begin to affect area motorists Wednesday, MDOT has announced.

There will be a single-lane closure between 8 p.m. Wednesday to 5 a.m. Thursday on southbound US-23 between the CSX railroad, just south of I-96 and Silver Lake Road, according to an email MDOT sent Monday.

Starting at 10 a.m Friday one lane in each direction on U.S. 23 will be closed for repairs until 2 p.m. May 15, the email said. The weekend closures will stretch from just south of Lee Road to Silver Lake Road, it said.

A temporary signal will be put in place in flash mode at Spencer Road bridge that spans U.S. 23 starting Wednesday through at least Memorial Day. Afterward, the signal will be reduced to regulate one lane traffic for six to seven weeks during bridge repairs, MDOT said.

Editor's note: The article was updated Tuesday after MDOT sent out a revised release with changes regarding the weekend lane closure and how Spencer Road at U.S. 23 won't be reduced to one lane until at least after Memorial Day. Originally, MDOT said the one lane status would begin Wednesday.
