Hartland 2012 Election Guide

The candidates, incumbents and issues that will be affecting Hartland and Livingston County.

As we look ahead to November’s elections, Hartland Patch is devoted to bringing you the information you need about local races. Here's what will be on the ballot on Nov. 6, including links to candidate profiles.

You can also view your full sample ballot on the Hartland Township website.

The Polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.

All Hartland Township Voters, vote for all elections at the location listed below.

Precinct 1, 2, 3, 4 & 5
Hartland Education Support Service Center
(Former Hartland High School)

To assist voters needing an Absentee Ballot for the upcoming Presidential Election the Hartland Township Clerk's Office will be open the following additional hours:

  • Friday November 2  from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. 
  • Saturday November 3 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

If needed, you may also obtain an Absentee Ballot on Monday, November 5 until 4 p.m., however all ballots that are given out that day must be voted at the Township Hall that day no ballots may leave the building. 

President

Voters will pick a candidate to serve a four-year term.

  • Democratic candidate: Barack Obama
  • Republican candidate: Mitt Romney
  • Libertarian candidate: Gary Johnson

Hartland Board of Education

Voters will pick two candidates to serve to serve full terms. Candidates are:

  • Thom Dumond
  • John Kevin Kaszyca

Voters will pick one candidate to serve a partial term ending 12/31/2014. Candidates are:

  • Bill Gatewood
  • Christopher Costa

U.S. Senator

These two are running for a six-year term in the U.S. Senate.

  • Democratic candidate: Debbie Stabenow
  • Republican candidates: Pete Hoekstra

Michigan House of Representatives

Two candidates will vie for a two-year term in November to represent the 47th District, which includes Hartland.

  • Democratic candidate: Shawn Lowe Desai
  • Republican candidate: Cindy Denby
  • Libertarian candidate: James Weeks II

Livingston County Commissioner

Candidates running for a two-year term in November to represent the 3rd District, which includes Hartland:

  • Democratic candidate: Dane Morris
  • Republican candidate: Dave Domas

Candidates for the 2nd District include:

  • Democratic candidate:Jeanette DiFlorio
  • Republican candidate: William J. Green

Cromaine District Library Trustee

  • Paul Black
  • Mary Cafmeyer
  • Julianne Chapman
  • Douglas Sargent

Judge of Probate Court

Two women are running for a non-incumbent position. Candidates are:

  • Lori Marran
  • Miriam Cavanaugh

Livingston County Prosecutor

  • Democratic candidate: Matthew Evans
  • Republican candidate: William Vailliencourt

State Proposals

  • Proposal 3: Should a renewable energy standard be added to the state constitution?

  • Proposal 5: Should the state constitution be amended to require a two-thirds majority of the state legislature or a statewide vote to raise state taxes?
  • Proposal 6: Should the state constitution be amended to require a statewide vote to build international bridges or tunnels?
