On the Agenda: School Board, Planning Commission Hold Meetings While County Strategic Plan to be Unveiled

Prep sports return from spring break.

With spring break over, a host of events connected to Hartland provide a range of activities to attend this week that involve schools, the and the Hartland Township Planning Commission.

A Hartland Board of Education meeting and many home spring high school sports highlight activities in the Hartland School District.

The board meeting — 6:30 p.m. Monday at the — includes action items on reproductive curriculum and student expulsions. (See attached PDF for the full agenda).

Varsity sports kick off with boys lacrosse hosting Haslett 7 p.m. Monday at . Other home events include:

  • Track squaring off against Brighton 4 p.m. Tuesday.
  • Softball and baseball teams playing Pinckney in doubleheaders that begin 4 p.m. Wednesday.
  • Girls tennis taking on Grand Blanc 4 p.m. and soccer playing Pinckney 7 p.m. Thursday.
  • Girls lacrosse hosting Grand Blanc 7 p.m. Friday.

In economic development, a strategic plan for Livingston County will be unveiled 7:30 a.m. Wednesday at Crystal Gardens, 5768 E. Grand River Ave., in Genoa Township. The event, which includes a continental breakfast, will feature Bill Rustem, director of strategy for Gov. Rick Snyder, as the keynote speaker.

The plan was developed over the past year through a series of meetings that involved more than 800 people throughout the county, including . It was spearheaded by the Hartland, Brighton and Howell chambers and facilitated by the Michigan State University Land Policy Institute.

The event is free and open to the public, but organizers ask that those interested in attending RSVP by contacting one of the chambers. The Hartland chamber can be reached at 810-632-9130 or info@hartlandchamber.org.

Meantime, a 7 p.m. Planning Commission meeting Thursday at Township Hall, 2655 Clark Road, features a presentation on clearzoning by Birchler Arroyo Associates, Inc., of Lathrup Village.

The approach looks to make zoning regulations easier to navigate for average residents and developers alike through the use of graphics and hyperlinking. (See attached PDFs for the full agenda and more on clearzoning).
