Voter Registration Deadline Nearing for Hartland Election

Hartland residents hoping to vote in the May 7 election should register to vote before the deadline.

The deadline to register to vote in the May 7 election is just around the corner. 

Voters have until April 8 to register at Hartland Township, any Secretary of State office or by mail.

This year, there is a new requirement to register to vote in Michigan. As of March 28, anyone wishing to register to vote must have a photo ID or a signed affidavit with proof of citizenship.

In order to vote, you must:

  • be 18 years or older on or before Election Day
  • be a citizen of the U.S.
  • have lived in Michigan for at least 30 days
  • be registered on or before the close of registration

People who will be unavailable to vote in person on election day can apply for an absentee ballot. Residents can vote absentee until May 6.

The Hartland Township Cerk's office will be open on the Saturday preceding each election from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. to process absentee voter applications.

Absentee voter ballots may also be obtained by a voter in person anytime up to 4 p.m. on the day prior to the election. A voter obtaining their ballot at the Clerk's office the day prior to the election must vote the ballot in the office, the voter is not permitted to leave the office with the ballot.
