A Sign of Spring: Hartland Girls Soccer Plays in Lakes Area Showcase

Varsity, junior varsity compete with more than 40 schools on Friday, Saturday.

FARMINGTON HILLS — The Hartland High School girls soccer team was one of more than 40 teams competing in the ninth annual Lakes Area Showcase that was held at seven different high schools this weekend.

The junior varsity were scheduled to play against Walled Lake Central and Lake Orion on Friday at Walled Lake Central High School while varsity were expected to compete against Ladywood, Ferndale and Plymouth on Saturday at North Farmington High School. Hartland coach Andrew Kartsounes said scores aren't available for scrimmages by state rule, but added the varsity team played well, especially its defense.

"We didn't allow any goals," he said.

The Eagles first game is 7:30 p.m. Thursday at Walled Lake Central.
