A free seven-week workshop is being offered for parents of teenagers by LACASA. Creating Lasting Family Connections will be held on Wednesdays beginning July 11.
This program, designed for parents of teens age 11 – 17, provides parents with support, insights and information about the challenges facing teens today—including designer drugs and substance abuse.
Parents will learn about the developmental stages of adolescence and the behaviors that accompany these phases. The workshop also explores how to enhance family communication skills and reinforce positive changes.
The series is free and will be held on Wednesdays from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at LACASA in Howell. Classes will run through August 22, 2012.
Individual family counseling sessions are available during the eight weeks to address personal parenting concerns.
This series is offered at no charge through a grant provided by the Washtenaw Community Health Organization and the Michigan Department of Community Health, Bureau of Substance Abuse and Addiction Services.
