Free Informational Session on Becoming a Section 8 Landlord by DHC

If you are thinking of renting out a house, apartment building or are considering a new development, the Assisted Housing Division of the Detroit Housing Commission will be presenting a free informational session on becoming a Section 8 landlord. It will discuss the ins and outs of the Housing Choice Voucher Program.

This information session is open to all residents in the metro Detroit area. Some of the discussion topics include the program rules and regulations, inspection requirements and procedures, how to list your home, and landlord and tenant rights. Light refreshments will be served and there will also be a question and answer session.

The Housing Choice Voucher Program (also known as Section 8) is the federal government’s major program for assisting very low-income families, the elderly, and the disabled to afford decent, safe, and sanitary housing in the private market. A housing subsidy is paid to the landlord by the housing agency and the tenant pays the difference in the rent.
