Hartland High School Assistant Principal Placed on Administrative Leave

Tracey Sahouri is expected to return as a teacher for the 2012-13 school year.

Hartland Schools confirmed today that Tracey Sahouri, who has been an  assistant principal at since transferring from last November, has been placed on temporary administrative leave through the end of the school year.

Training for the incoming staff was the reason for the decision, according to Superintendent Janet Sifferman. On Monday, the school board approved the hiring of new Hartland High School principal and new assistant principal Kate Gregory, who will be replacing Sahouri next school year. Sifferman explained that the new staff would be in training with current principal for the remainder of the year.

"We're doing a changeover for our high school administrative staff for the '12-'13 school year and we're making the switch right now while Chuck (Hughes) is still there," Sifferman said. "We want the new staff to start working together as a team, but to be able to get some guidance from Chuck while this is happening."

Hughes will be transferring to the central office next year as the new director of Curriculum and Instruction. His last day at the high school is June 30. 

In July, Sahouri was charged for where minors were drinking at a graduation party for her son. Those charges were later dropped. In March, the Hartland school board voted to Sahouri's admistrative contract after an anonoymous tip led to allegations and an investigation that she  during her time at Creekside Elementary School.

Sahouri is suing the Argentine Township Police Department and for the two unrelated cases.

Sahouri is expected to return to Hartland for the 2012-13 school year.

"We're looking forward to having her come back next year," Sifferman said. "She will be a teacher in the classroom next year."
