Brandon Coy

Parents: Raymond and Lisa Coy

Activities and Awards: Brandon earned second place in Biology Lab in the KLAA Math and Science Olympics.  He has received his academic letter and first place in Chemistry Lab in the 2013 Science Olympiad. Brandon was recognized with the Hartland Optimist Club Award for Outstanding Service.  

He was and AP Scholar for 2012 and performed community service by volunteering at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital in Livingston during junior year.  Brandon attended two Lead America national student conferences, one for Medicine and the other for Healthcare. He also participated in Quiz Bowl and Quizbusters.

Brandon was influenced by his parents. He says they were equally influential in his life. They provided supported and encouraged him to embrace perseverance, upward mobility, dedication to work, and without them he would not be where he is today. Brandon enjoys reading, watching movies, relaxing outdoors, listening to music, traveling, restoring his vintage car, and spending time with friends and family. 

College: Brandon will be majoring in biochemistry at the University of Michigan Honors Program in Ann Arbor.

Nicolette Diroff

Parents: Mark and Irene Diroff

Activities and Awards: Nicolette was class secretary her freshman year and received the Leadership award. She represented Hartland High School at the 2011 Michigan Youth Leadership Conference. Nicolette was inducted into National Honor Society the spring of her sophomore year. 

Nicolette has been involved in Science Olympiad, Spanish Club, and Optimist Club. She has been awarded the Outstanding Achievement Award for academic excellence in AP Biology, the Outstanding Achievement Award for overall outstanding performance in Spanish III, the Society of Women Engineers Madam Curie Award for outstanding female who shows exemplary ability in mathematics and science classes, and has earned an academic certificate and letter. 

She was on the JV Tennis Team and Varsity Cross Country Team earning the Scholar Athlete Award and KLAA Athlete Award. Nicolette has volunteered weekly for Big Brothers Big Sisters, weekly at Cromaine Library, and as an Assistant Catechist at St. John’s Catholic Church. She was also Promotions Chair for Relay for Life. Nicolette enjoys watching movies and eating good food in her free time. Her parents have been the most influential in her success as they have always supported and encouraged her. 

College: Nicolette will be attending the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor to study Biological Sciences.  

Hannah Grosso

Parents: Maurice and Coleen Grosso

Activities and Awards: Hannah was part of the Girls Varsity Swimming Team. She was Captain her junior and senior years, and earned honors for state team (all four years).  Hannah was athlete of the week (all four years), was on the All-County team for various events (last three years), and earned the Scholar Athlete and High Point awards. Hannah is the Editor-in-Chief of the Hartland Yearbook. 

Hannah has been earned an Academic Certificate and Academic Letter for her academic achievements. She participates in school clubs, such as National Honor Society and Link Crew. She has worked as a lifeguard and a swim instructor at the Hartland Pool. 

Hannah's family is the biggest supporter and most influential people in Hannah's life.  They have taught her the basic steps to put her feet into the right path, giving her the proper tools to do it. Her parents showed her the greatest way to reach a goal is by dedication and perseverance. 

College: Upon graduation, Hannah will be attending West Point and majoring in Systems Engineering. 

Alexandria Hayes

Parents: Carol and Doug Hayes

Activities and Awards: Alexandria was involved in the National Honor Society and the Green Team. She was on the Varsity Tennis Team, as well as a member of the All County Tennis Team. She was Captain of the Varsity Tennis Team her senior year and received many Scholastic Athlete Awards. Alexandria has earned a Varsity Letter in Academics, the AP Scholar Award, and the Academic Excellence Award in both AP Chemistry and AP Calculus. 

Outside of school, Alexandria is a peer tutor and has spent time volunteering at Village Manor Retirement Home and Gleaner’s Food Bank. Alexandria’s family has been the greatest influence in her life because they have encouraged her to always do her best. 

College: Alexandria will be attending the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor where she will be majoring in Engineering. 

Grant Klopfenstein

Parents: David and Charissa Klopfenstein

Activities and Awards: 

Grant is involved in numerous community services opportunities. He has gone on several mission trips to Tennessee, Detroit, and locally through churches and places such as Gleaners Food Bank.  Grant is currently raising funds for a mission trip to New Jersey this summer.  He was a member of the Varsity Basketball and Varsity Golf teams.  

Grant was the Captain of the basketball team, and a Scholar-Athlete for all four years, as a junior he received All-County Honorable Mention.  As Captain of the Golf team he received Scholar-Athlete recognition four times, as well as, First Team All-County honors as a junior and Academic All-State as a senior.  

He has held numerous jobs at golf courses throughout his high school career and enjoys spending his time playing golf.  

College: Grant is planning on attending the Engineering School at Trine University this fall and will pursue a Chemical Engineering major with a minor in Golf Management. Grant will also be member of Trine’s golf team. 

Carolyn Leung

Parents: Simon and Rachel Leung

Activities and Awards: Carolyn was a member of the Varsity Cross Country Team, Science Olympiad, National Honor Society, and Big Brothers Big Sisters. In addition to her extra-curricular activities, she worked at the Cromaine Library as a Page.  She also held a job at Animal Crackers Pet Salon and Kennel as a Kennel Assistant. Her biggest influence is her parents who challenge her to take every opportunity to better the community and herself. 

In her free time she enjoys playing tennis with her father and spending time with friends. 

College: Carolyn will be studying at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor next year where she will be majoring in the field of Science. 

Andrea Miller

Parents: Mark and Mary Lou Miller

Activities and Awards: Andrea was a member of the National Honor Society, LINK crew, Optimist Club and French club. She has taken pointe, jazz, tap, contemporary, lyrical, and hip hop classes with Michigan Dance Center and been a member of the Lake Shannon Water Ski Club throughout her time in high school. Andrea was an active member of her church youth group as part of the leadership team, attended the National Catholic Youth Conference and the Diocese of Lansing's Diocesan Youth Leadership Camp. 

Her further community service includes volunteering with Big Brothers Big Sisters Rockin' Readers and Big Futures programs, being a member of the Diocese of Lansing's Jamboree planning committee and Middle School Rally committee, peer tutoring, and volunteering at Village Manor with NHS and the Optimist Club. Andrea received Academic awards in writing, Jewelry I, Ceramics I, French, Physics and Advanced Placement Chemistry. 

She placed as the second lab team in the KLAA Math and Science Olympics, and was given the AP Scholar with Distinction Award. The greatest influences in Andrea's life are her parents who taught her that anything is possible with effort and her brother who has always been a role model. 

College: Andrea will be attending the University of Michigan to double major in Engineering and French.

Cayla Pichan

Parents: Ava Pichan and Randy Pichan
Awards and Activites: Cayla served as the National Honor's Society Vice President, was an Optimist Club member and a Link Crew Leader. She was involved in Hartland High School’s elite women's choir. 

Cayla’s passion is Dance.  She has been dancing since she was three and competing since she was in 6th grade. She performed her solo on the national level in New York City for three years in a row and won many scholarships through New York City Dance Alliance. Cayla is in is the Major Company in Performing Arts Dance Theater at Glenn's School of Dance in Howell, MI. 

Cayla feels that parents are the greatest influence in her life. They've instilled in the drive and determination that she has today and that has allowed her to succeed.  

College: Cayla will be attending the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor where she will be in the Honor’s Program. She will be studying Pre-medicine at the College of Literature, Science, and the Arts. She also plans to continue to dance while in college.

Cameron Sloan

Parents: Craig and Shirley Sloan

Activities and Awards: Cameron is a member of the National Honor Society and the Varsity Quiz Bowl Team.  With the Quiz Bowl Team, he competed in a PBS televised game show, QuizBusters, at Station WKAR at the campus of Michigan State University.  

During his junior and senior years, Cameron competed in the Kensington Lakes Activities Association (KLAA) Math and Science Olympiad and won second place in the individual Chemistry competition and first place in the team Science competition.  During his freshman through junior years, Cameron was a member of the Hartland High School Track & Field Team, primarily running mid-distance events.  During all four years at Hartland High, he participated in the tennis program and twice was selected to be a member of the Press Argus All-County Tennis Team. 

During his senior year, Cameron was captain of the Varsity Tennis Team and later was honored with the Coach’s Award.  In addition to an Academic Letter, he received Scholar Athlete Awards during each of his athletic seasons from Hartland High School and KLAA.  

For several years, Cameron has been active in peer tutoring, as well as fund raising for the Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis Association in the Play for the Cure Events in Livingston County.  Last summer, he volunteered with United States Tennis Association by acquainting children with the sport of tennis.  With the Elias Cady branch of the Children of the American Revolution, Cameron has participated in wreath-laying ceremonies honoring the lives of a number of local veterans.  Cameron has many passions which include tennis, snowboarding, basketball, golf, and chess.  

Throughout the years, Cameron treasures the significant influence of his parents and their unconditional, enthusiastic support.  

College: He will be attending the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor where he will be studying Chemical Engineering. Go Blue!

Jacob West

Parents: Sue and Mike West

Activities and Awards

Jacob was an active member of Hartland High School’s National Honors Society for two years. He was involved in various community service programs including the H2O Project Wristband Sale for clean water wells in Uganda, Relay for Life, and volunteering at the Village Manor retirement home was awesome.  

He also was a LINK Leader during his senior year and hopefully was an influence to the freshman he supported. He enjoyed the LINK program because he was able to display an outgoing personality to young, incoming classman.  

Jacob was an active member of Hartland High School’s Spanish Club for two years, where he engaged in numerous multicultural activities.  He was a four year member of the Hartland High School soccer team, playing varsity during his junior and senior year. He earned the Scholastic Athlete Award during 11th and 12th grades, and in 12th grade he was elected captain of the team while making the Michigan All State squad.   

Jacob would like to give credit to his loving parents who, with their very unique teaching methods, have taught him how to work hard for himself and have helped him create his drive to succeed. Jacob loves to snowboard during the winter, play paintball whenever he can, and hang out at the lake with his friends. Given the opportunity, he likes to be the one to jump start the fun, and plan the activities that he and his friends enjoy.  

College: Jacob is attending the University of Michigan to major in Biochemistry.  His current career plan is to practice Veterinary Medicine.
