Hartland Schools to Release Statement Regarding Sahouri Case on Thursday

A statement is expected on Thursday regarding whether Hartland Schools will settle a lawsuit or go to trial with the former Creekside Elementary principal.

A statement from Hartland Consolidated Schools regarding whether the district will settle a lawsuit or go to trial with former Creekside Elementary principal Tracey Sahouri is expected on Thursday, according to the Press & Argus.

On April 22, the Board of Education had a closed session meeting to discuss the possible settlement.

Hartland Superintendent Janet Sifferman said the outcome of the meeting would not be released until early May, however, due to the fact that case evaluations must be kept confidential for a required period of time.

“The record of acceptance or rejection of case evaluations is to be kept confidential for 28 days after the actual evaluation,” Sahouri said.

As Hartland Patch previously reported, Sahouri, former principal of Creekside Elementary School and former vice principal of Hartland High School, is suing the Hartland Consolidated Schools district over circumstances involving her reassignment as a study-skills and special-education teacher.

Sahouri could receive $525,000 in a proposed settlement of her lawsuit against the district. As previously reported, Sahouri and the district had until the end of April to agree to the deal.
