Hartland Superintendent Says Storage Location Reason for Alternative MEAP Test

District is working with the state Department of Education to 'ensure test validity,' statement says.

A storage location that could have compromised the integrity of the MEAP test is why an alternative exam will be given next week at Creekside Elementary School, Hartland Superintendent Janet Sifferman said in a brief statement Friday.

"The district is working with the (Michigan Department of Education) to ensure test validity," Sifferman said.

The statement folllowed an that emergency tests were needed because "security was breached on one or more of the MEAP tests."

The email said the investigation remains ongoing and there would be no further comment on the specifics of the incident until a final report is issued. Students take the test Tuesday.

MDE spokesman Martin Ackley, who issued the statement, was unavailable for further comment Friday.

Both releases follows news Wednesday the school over "misadministration" of the exam after an anonymous tip on Tuesday.
