Hartland Principal Shows Detroit Tigers Pride During Scooter Race at School

Lakes principal Lindsay Smither and teacher Scott Storey reward their students with a scooter race.

The Detroit Tigers are already headed to the World Series after sweeping the New York Yankees last week, and once again the Yankees were beat out by the Tigers- this time in Hartland.

Students from Lakes Elementary cheered on their principal, Lindsay Smither, during a scooter race against special education teacher Scott Storey on Monday afternoon.

Smither, who represented the Tigers, swept past Storey, the Yankee fan, who was also stopped for speeding, to bring home the win to a large cheering audience.

The race was a reward for the school's fundraising efforts, according to Smither. The goal was for the school to raise $10,000 during their annual fall run.

The students ended up raising almost $11,000 and were rewarded with the fun event.
