Weekend at the Fowlerville Fair

Weekend events at the Fowlerville Fair include a terrific farmers’ breakfast, rides for special needs children and a rodeo Friday, with a flea market and free gate admission for veterans and current military personnel during the day on Saturday.

It’s "Farmer's Day" as well as Special Needs and Daycare Day Friday, July 24 at Fowlerville Family Fair.

Hours designed to give special needs children the chance to go on carnival rides also take place; the limited rides are offered from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Pre-register at fair office for a limited number of further discounts.

It’s sponsored by Livingston County Farm Bureau, as are the hearty farmers’ breakfast at 8 a.m. and the Beginning of Life exhibit, which is open all day. Pre-register for the farmers’ breakfast; limited numbers of tickets are available by calling 517-546-8124.

8 a.m. events are: 4-H Horse Gymkhana Classes in the horse show arena, followed by a 9 a.m. 4-H Livestock Judging Contest in the livestock arena and the 10 a.m. start of the 4-H Hands-on Learning Experience, which runs for the rest of the day in the little red barn.

My Adventure Theater, sponsored by Jimmy John's of Howell, is at 11 a.m., 2 p.m. and 5 p.m.; Chase’s Racing Pigs, sponsored by RheTech, is at noon, 3 p.m., 6 p.m. and 7 p.m. The midway/carnival area is open to the general public at 2 p.m.

Don’t forget to check out the action in the grandstand at 7 p.m.; for $10 per person at the gate, you can see Lost Nations Rodeo engage in bull riding, which is sponsored by Fowlerville Dental Center.

On Saturday, veterans, current military and government officials are admitted free of charge between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. There’s also $1 gate admission for all until noon. It’s sponsored by American Compounding Specialists, Inc. Veterans and active duty military personnel also are honored for their service at 10 a.m. in Finlan Gazebo.

One of the day’s highlights is the flea market that opens at 9 a.m. It takes place infield on the east side of the fairgrounds and is sponsored by Livingston Centre Historical Village. There is no additional charge for the flea market.

Beginning of Life exhibit, sponsored by Livingston County Farm Bureau, is open all day.

Competition is fierce as the showmanship sweepstakes, including dairy, goats, beef, sheep, swine, horses, llama/alpaca, dogs, poultry and rabbits, which takes place at 9 a.m. in the horse arena. A small animal auction takes place at 2 p.m. in the livestock arena.

At noon, the midway opens and bingo’s in the bingo gazebo (sponsored by Fowlerville Band Boosters). First Bite Fishing, open all day (sponsored by Edward Jones) starts too.

Chase’s Racing Pigs, sponsored by RheTech, entertain crowds at noon, 2 p.m., 4 p.m. and 6 p.m.; My Adventure Theater performs at 1 p.m., 3 p.m. and 5 p.m. It’s sponsored by Jimmy John's of Howell.

The Combine Demolition Derby event in the grandstand at 7 p.m. wraps up the fair is; cost is $10 per person at the gate; it’s sponsored by Miechiel's Auto Salvage.
