Hartland Blasts Lakeland 12-1

The Hartland Eagles notch a win over Lakeland on their way to a district championship.

The Hartland Eagles baseball team blasted Lakeland 12-1 Saturday in a district semi-final game. Jake Lowery fired a two hit gem on the road for the Eagles.

Jake Jesson blasted a lead off home run on a 3-2 count to put Hartland up 1-0. In the top of the second inning, Marcus Ziebold had a RBI single in what proved to be the winning run.

Lowery was almost untouchable the entire game. He was in a grove from the outset as he gave up only two hits. Both Lakeland hits came from center fielder Jack Flynn.

Anthony Villar blasted Hartland’s second home run of the game in the top of the 5th to give the Eagles an 8-1 lead. Hartland banged out 13 hits in the game that ended after 6 innings.

The Eagles advanced to the district championship game with the win.

Hartland beat Holly in the second game, later that day, 8-3 to earn the district championship and up there season record to 23-9. The Eagles will host the regional tournament next Saturday where they will take on Rochester Adams at 12:30 p.m.
